Grand Prix Award (not open for entry)
The Green Award
Have you reduced the carbon footprint of your venue, company or event activity through the introduction of environmental policies? If you can prove that the measure's you've taken have had a significant impact and contributed to a greener events industry then why not tell us about it and you could be on stage collecting the Event 2008 Green Award.
Agency of the year
(Can only be entered if the agency has submitted 3 other entries)
This category is open to both production and experiential agencies that can prove a successful year and a variety of client work. Judges will look for evidence of how entrants staged three successful campaigns or events. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions of three separate projects (500 words per project is permitted) for the judges to study, supported by visual evidence. In addition, a brief description of the overall scope of the ongoing agency's activities is requested to assist the Judges
Exhibition organiser of the year
(Can only be entered if the organiser has submitted 1 other entry into an exhibition category)
This category is open to an exhibition organiser that proves it has had a successful year through one or more of its exhibitions. Judges will look for evidence of how the entrants have staged an exhibition and met its objectives based on its marketing campaign, return on investment and visitor interaction. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions and evidence of how they achieved the aforementioned.
Supplier of the year
This category is open to any provider of audio, visual, lighting, technical, staging, staffing or finishing touch services. Each supplier must show one case study example of how it came up with a creative solution to a client's brief and how it was then executed in an event environment. The judges will be looking for strong visual representation, clear technical data to show innovation and guest / client endorsement.
Caterer of the year
This category is open to all external and in-house catering teams only. The entrant must show how creativity has resulted in enhanced business via menu selection, progressive ideas, client solutions and endorsements. Please note that those caterers that make the final short-list may be asked to prepare examples of the menus for the judges to taste.
Best public or outdoor event (Includes events held in temporary structures)
Are you an organiser who is particularly proud of a recent event held outdoors or in a temporary structure? Maybe you're an agency that was commissioned to produce a day's team building using outdoor activities. Whatever the event, so long as it was held away from purpose-built structures, it will be judged on its innovation, creativity and measured results. Broad entities at public events should enter Best brand activity at a festival or public event.
Best conference or internal staff event
(Includes forums, internal communication events, market place events and company kick-offs) The judges will look for complete conference or internal event solutions and case studies, not just descriptions of audio-visual techniques or meeting space layout. For the purposes of this category, market place events include any event where there is a mix of workshop sessions with one-to-one business meetings.
Best Brand Experience Campaign
This category is open to all agencies involved in the successful implementation and execution of a campaign on behalf of a brand or organization. Judges will look for evidence of ROI measurement, creativity and success in meeting objectives. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions of the campaign for the judges to study, supported by visual evidence.
Most effective sampling activity of the year
This category is open to all agencies involved in the successful implementation and execution of sampling on behalf of a brand or organization. Judges will look for evidence of ROI measurement, creativity and success in meeting objectives. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions of why locations were chosen, how staff were selected and what targets were set, supported by visual evidence.
Most effective roadshow activity of the year
This category is open to all agencies and roadshow suppliers involved in the successful implementation and execution of a roadshow on behalf of a brand or organization. Judges will look for evidence of ROI measurement, creativity and success in meeting objectives. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions of the campaign for the judges to study, supported by visual evidence along with details of the roadshow units.
Best brand activity at a festival or public event
This category is open to all brands or agencies acting on behalf of brands involved in creating brand advocacy through event activity at either festivals or public events. Judges will look for evidence of ROI measurement, creativity and success in meeting objectives. Entrants must provide accurate descriptions of the campaign for the judges to study, supported by visual evidence. Public events themselves should be entered into Best public or outdoor event (Includes events held in temporary structures)
Best international event or exhibition (by either UK or overseas organiser or agency)
This category is open to agencies and organisers from ALL European countries with either consumer or business shows in countries outside of the UK. Eligible events include international clones of UK formats or shows launched into new / emerging markets as well as product launches and the full range of event activity. Judges will be looking for measured evidence of success and will take into consideration any localised problems that needed to be overcome.
Best launch exhibition
Open to organizers/presenters only. Judges will be looking for evidence of successful launch shows. This should include proof of show elements that surpassed expectations in the first year ranging from visitor numbers to exhibitor activity. How was the launch marketed? Did innovative show ideas help turn the concept into a success? Because of the time lag on research, launch shows between January 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008 will be eligible, provided they have not been entered for an Event Award previously.
Most improved business exhibition
This category is open to exhibition organizers / presenters with a business show over five years of age. Re-inventing exhibition formats to keep the show fresh year on year can be a challenge in its self especially in markets with competitive events. The judges will be looking for evidence of how the exhibition continues to go from strength to strength via innovative strategies and the impact of new features or marketing methods. Please submit comparison data from past years to support the format improvements.
Most improved consumer exhibition
This category is open to any exhibition organizer / presenters with a consumer show over five years of age. Re-inventing exhibition formats to keep the show fresh year on year can be a challenge in it self especially in markets with competitive events. The judges will be looking for evidence of how the exhibition continues to go from strength to strength via innovative strategies and the impact of new features or marketing methods. Please submit comparison data from past years to support the format improvements.
Exhibition feature area of the year
This category is open to creative agencies and production companies, with endorsement needed from show organiser or client. Judges will be looking for evidence of how a particular show area provided maximum exposure for the client brand or served as a focal point for the exhibition. How was the brief translated? What occurred daily in the show area? How did the client benefit from a creative feature solution instead of an exhibition stand or how did the show benefit as a whole from a main feature area?
Exhibition stand of the year
This category is open to agencies and clients who have created stands that have achieved or surpassed their initial objectives in terms of creativity, interaction, return on investment and visitor numbers. Judges will be taking into account all of these factors. Both modular and custom-build stands will be evaluated.
Best use of a blank canvas space
This category is open to any venue, agency or organiser that can show creative use of a blank space. This includes exhibition venues, art galleries, cultural venues and bespoke halls. It also includes temporary structures. The entrant must show two examples of how the space has been transformed. Judges will be looking for innovation, logistical planning, venue support and client endorsement.
Venue in-house events team of the year
This category is open to any venue (including hotels and temporary structures) wishing to nominate its in-house events department or an in-house team wishing to nominate itself. The department must show case-study evidence of three events it has staged, managed or produced during the eligibility period. The judges will be looking for examples of creative solutions, logistic management, best practice techniques, supplier relations and guest endorsement.
Entertainment of the year (to include agencies or acts)
This category is open to any agency offering entertainment to end-user clients or any independent act or artiste. The entrant must show three case study examples of how its entertainment has been used to enhance three different creative events successfully. The judges will be looking for originality, guest / client endorsement, innovation and value for money.
Creative event of the year
Has your party been the success story of the last 12 months? Maybe it created such great media coverage that it deserves an award or the return on the client's investment was so significant that you've kept them coming back for more? This category is open to clients, organizers and agencies that have staged film premieres, award ceremonies, fashion shows, large-scale corporate and private parties, charity balls and seasonal events.
Venue Awards:
Exhibition, conference or purpose built event venue of the year.
Unique, visitor attraction or cultural event venue of the year.
Bar, nightclub or blank canvas event space of the year.
Many differing types of venues have gained a successful reputation as exceptional environments to stage live events. Museums, purpose built, temporary structures, unique and unusual spaces all have a role to play in the successful execution of an event. Entering venues must provide examples of how they've played an active role in the hosting of three different events.
