Project categories
Entries may be submitted individually or jointly by key parties involved e.g. the landscape architect/designer, contractor or client.

 

Best Use of Plants in the Landscape
Awarded to the entrant who has created the most innovative use of plants in any landscape setting e.g. streetscape, park, garden etc. Entries are welcome from plant suppliers and professional gardeners as well as designers, contractors and clients. Schemes will be judged on factors such as choice of species, juxtaposition and quality.

Best Commercial Project
Awarded to entrant who has completed the best individual landscape project (external or internal) for the commercial sector (ie for a housing, office or retail development). Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

Best Streetscape Project
Awarded to the entrant who has completed the best individual streetscape project. This is likely to be a local authority controlled public space but could include a privately owned streetscape accessible by the public. Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

Best Parks or Gardens Project revised
Awarded to the entrant who has completed the best individual parks or gardens project (gardens must be open to the public). This could include a parks or gardens restoration project or new greenspace development. Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

Best Playscheme
Awarded to the entrant who has completed the best playscheme project for the public or private sectors. This could include a playscheme in a park, school or leisure facility. Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

Best Grassroots Sports Facility Project
Awarded to the entrant who has completed the best grassroots sports facility project. This could include renovation or development of a sports pitch or other outdoor sporting facilities for use by the public. Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

Best Residential Garden Project
Awarded to the entrant who has completed the best individual garden design and/or construction project. Entries must include the budget for the project and timescale.

 

Non-project categories

Contractor of the Year: Grounds Maintenance
Awarded to the business that has most effectively demonstrated excellence within its sector. Entries should include evidence of winning and satisfactory fulfilment of contracts, business growth, and service quality. Entries must include data illustrating the financial soundness of the company.

Contractor of the Year: Arboriculture
Awarded to the business that has most effectively demonstrated excellence within its sector. Entries should include evidence of winning and satisfactory fulfilment of contracts, business growth and service quality. Entries must include data illustrating the financial soundness of the company.

Partnering Award
Awarded to the client/contractor partnership for the provision of grounds maintenance, arboriculture or landscaping services that has most effectively demonstrated excellence within its sector. Entries must be submitted jointly by the contractor and client.

Open Space Management Team of the Year
Awarded to the in house management team of a park/s or botanic/ historic garden which has demonstrated best use of resources in achieving excellence in open space management. This might include great horticultural practice, excellent partnerships, success with funding initiatives, strong staff development etc. This category is not eligible for entry by contractors.

Professional Gardener of the Year
Nominations are invited. *
Awarded to the individual gardening professional who has had a sustained impact on the development and/or maintenance of an open space, either private or public, heritage or newly developed.

Most Outstanding Commitment to Education and Training
Awarded to the entrant who has demonstrated the best attitude and commitment to training in the landscaping and/or amenity sector. Entrants should demonstrate how they have enabled staff, trainees and apprentices to better their knowledge and career development.

Most Outstanding Commitment to the Community new
Awarded to the entrant who has demonstrated the best attitude and commitment to working with, and involving, the community in the pursuit of greenspace goals. Entries could relate to a specific project or on-going work with the community.

Most Outstanding Contribution to the Environment
Awarded to the entrant who has demonstrated the best attitude to environmental issues within its operation. This is likely to include factors such as use of recycled materials, waste management, recycling and composting, energy or water conservation, wildflower/wildlife conservation, etc.

Apprentice/Trainee of the Year
Nominations are invited from employers. *
Awarded to the individual apprentice or trainee who has shown the most outstanding aptitude for and commitment to the role or sector in which they are being trained.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Nominations are invited. *
Awarded to the individual who, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most outstanding contribution to the amenity or landscaping sectors. Entrants must be nominated by a third party (e.g., a colleague or employer).Written evidence should explain why the individual nominee should be given the Award, specifically: a) what successes/achievements have been accomplished to warrant nomination, b) how the entrant is regarded by their peers, customers, colleagues, subordinates, seniors etc and c) why the nomination is particularly relevant to the current Awards qualifying period.
