Regeneration and Renewal Awards 2008

Introduction

In September 2007 more than 600 people gathered together in London to celebrate the presentation of the first ever Regeneration & Renewal Awards. Property developers and planning consultants mingled with politicians and community activists during an evening that exemplified the full breadth and vitality of the regeneration sector. By the end of the night, 22 outstanding organisations, schemes and individuals had received awards, each the result of a rigorous judging process involving our panel of regeneration experts and, where appropriate, site visits. It was a memorable evening that recognised and rewarded some truly inspirational regeneration work.

Now we are inviting entries for the Regeneration & Renewal Awards 2008. There are a few new categories intended to reflect changes in the priorities and the organisational make-up of the regeneration sector. These include new awards for tackling worklessness and boosting productivity, as well as awards for volunteering in regeneration, social regeneration and housing delivery.

But mostly we will be building on the success of last year's awards. As it did last year, Regeneration & Renewal magazine will bring its depth of knowledge and editorial rigour to the selection of judges, the judging process and the way in which finalist and winning schemes are described in our publications covering the awards. Once again, you can be confident that only the best projects will make it through the first stages of judging, which involves scrutiny by a panel of expert judges. And, as we did last year, we will make sure that schemes that need to be seen first-hand to be assessed properly will be visited by the judges.

With plenty of time to enter - you have until Friday 25 April to submit your entries - you will be able to hone your entries and gather together the necessary support material to provide the judges with full understanding of your work.  Make sure your contribution to regeneration is recognised. Be part of the second Regeneration & Renewal Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday 18 September at The Hurlingham Club in London.
