The Third Sector Excellence Awards 2012

Judges

Each entry will be assessed by an independent panel of judges with skills and experience relevant to the category. Any judge who has been involved with an entry is not allowed to lobby the other judges, nor vote for that project. An average based on all the other judges’ marks will be awarded to the project concerned. The decisions of the judges are independent and final and no correspondence will be entered into about the results. The three Third Sector awards will be decided by the editor and a panel of staff from the magazine.

Time of judging and awards ceremony
Judging will take place in September 2008, as soon as all entries have been processed and read by the judges. A short list will be published as soon as possible after that and a formal dinner and presentation of the awards will take place at the Hurlingham Club in west London on Tuesday 18 November 2008.

Method of judging
The judges will use the completed entry forms and your written submissions and supporting material to make an assessment of your entries. They will study all the entries received, looking for evidence of excellence that contributed to the overall success of an activity.
Each project will be assessed according to its objectives and budget. The judges will give credit to effective campaigns and creative ideas rather than big budgets.
The judges have the right to move entries between categories if they feel they have been entered in the wrong category.

Sensitive information
It is understood that in some cases entries may include commercially sensitive information. Third Sector reserves the right to publish descriptions and case studies of winning entries, but if an entrant asks for any part of their submission to remain confidential, it will be treated as such.

Withdrawn entries
No fees are refundable, but any entry may be withdrawn before 18 July 2008 without penalty. Thereafter, an additional withdrawal fee of £30 plus VAT will be charged to cover the cost of extra administration and revisions to the judging packs.

Late entries
There is a penalty for late entry. If an entry is received after the official closing date, without prior approval, the organisers reserve the right to charge £50 plus VAT in each case, irrespective of whether the entry is from a registered charity, a voluntary organisation or a commercial organisation.
