Regeneration and Renewal Awards 2008

Entry Deadline Friday 25 April 2008

We recommend that you save the downloadable .pdf on your desktop to ensure correct visualization.

WHO SHOULD ENTER
Any individual, organisation or partnership involved in regeneration or renewal work, whether in the public, private or voluntary/community sector, anywhere in the UK.

HOW TO ENTER
First decide on the categories most appropriate for your entries (you may enter as many categories as you wish). Then prepare your submission with supporting material. A completed entry form must accompany each entry, along with 6 high quality digital images. If you are making multiple entries, please either photocopy the entry form or reproduce it in the same format on your own word processor system.

ELIGIBILITY PERIOD
The awards will recognise work that was carried out or completed during the period from July 1, 2006 to March 31, 2008. Entrants should make clear when the work referred to in their entry took place, so that the judges can satisfy themselves that it took place within the eligible period.

Organisations and/or schemes that are entered into a category that they were also entered into in the Regeneration & Renewal Awards 2007 will be asked to demonstrate how they have met the criteria between 31 March 2007 and 31 March 2008, as well as during earlier periods (if relevant).

ENTRY FEES
Cost of entry is:
Free for voluntary or charitable sector bodies or individuals working for them
£65 + VAT for public sector bodies or individuals working for them
£100 + VAT for private sector organisations or individuals working for them

YOUR SUBMISSION
The word count for your written submission should not exceed 1500 words in total; maximum 500 words explaining how it meets the category-specific criteria, and a maximum of 1000 words explaining how it meets one or more of the general criteria.
Please print your submission on plain white paper in Times New Roman 12 point.

Category-specific criteria
Please explain how your entry meets the criteria that are specific to your chosen category (maximum 500 words).

General criteria
As well as assessing the entries against category-specific criteria, the panel wil assess them against some general criteria. In evaluating all entries, the judges will above all else be seeking:
• objective evidence that you have improved or helped to improve the physical or environmental quality of a place or the economic or social well-being of a community

They will also be looking for the following qualities:
• originality
• long-lasting impact, or the potential for long-lasting impact
• involvement of, and benefit to, local people
• replicability
• value for money and/or financial viability

Please note that meeting all the general criteria is not necessary to win an award.  The entry must demonstrate objective evidence of how it has improved or helped to improve the physical or environmental quality of a place or the economic or social well-being of a community, and show how it meets the cetegory-specific criteria. But meeting the other general criteria is optional, although demonstrating that the entry meets one or more of them may help reinforce its case for winning an award.

HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR SUBMISSION
Support your entry by attaching additional material such as evaluations, inspection reports, press cuttings or testimonials to back up statements made in your submission. However, please be aware that the supporting material's key messages (the points that you feel have the most bearing on why it should win an award) will need to be briefly drawn to the judges' attention in the main submission, allowing them to refer to the supporting material if they want more detail.

Visual support material, such as plans, drawings, good quality photographic prints, DVDs of video material, or architectural visualisations, will in many cases help the judges to understand the case for your entry to win an award.

WHERE TO SEND YOUR ENTRY

Please send eight copies of each entry form and submission to:

Some aspects of the work that you would like to be recognised by an award may be confidential or commercially sensitive. If you mark any section of your submission or your supporting material as "Confidential" it will be treated as such and will not be published.
